Potent Pro-Israel Group Finds Its Momentum Blunted | The New York Times

WASHINGTON — The last time the nation’s most potent pro-Israel lobbying group lost a major showdown with the White House was when President Ronald Reagan agreed to sell Awacs surveillance planes to Saudi Arabia over the group’s bitter objections.

Since then, the group, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, has run up an impressive record of legislative victories in its quest to rally American support for Israel, using a robust network of grass-roots suppor ...

Wouldn't be great if Obama didn't turn up in the upcoming AIPAC propaganda gathering. That would truly make a true American hero. Pls wake me up; I must be dreaming.

It seems like a large number of American Jews are not agreeing with the policies that AIPAC has been pushing down Americans' throat.
They have had a big setback pushing for more sanctions and eventual war with Iran.
May the Americans free themselves from destructive influence of Israel Lobby.

The US sold AWACs to Saudi Arabia but later stopped Israel from selling its own AWACs, the Phalcon to China. So AIPAC's "control of Congress" has hardly been absolute. The fact is, that for every plane the US gives to Israel, it sells 3 to Saudi Arabia and the other Arabs. AIPAC has only been a partial offset to the Arab oil lobby.

By giving [free] fighter planes to Israel or selling them to Saudis, the net effect is the same. That is enabling these two criminal regime to carry on with their fascist policies towards their neighboring nations, one by exporting [backward] Islamist to inflict terror, the other by their occupying military force to inflict terror.

Yes, wonderful, fine, upstanding neighboring nations, like Syria, Egypt, and not too far away, Iraq, Libya and of course, Iran. All wonderful, democratic, truly exemplary world citizens.

This is Such a misrepresentation of reality. The Long story short is the USA loves the IRI for Iranians more than anyone else except the UK, France and Germany. Aipac isn't going to do anything against the US desire for loving the IRI, Israel helped install the IRI. It's function is to serve the USA in a way Iran in the past did not serve the USA, because Israels entire defense budget is paid for by the USA, where as Iran's was not.

On the other hand, the culturally backward and militarily, economically and politically impotent mullahs and their goons are down on their knees begging the "Great Satan" to forgive them and let them rule Iran a little longer.

Not true, the IRI knows who put them in power and who loves them for Iran. What the mullahs don't care about is why they are loves so much and what the west wants them in power for? The Wests primary goal was and still is to thwart Iran, no one can do a better job than the IRI and so the big joke is on the people of Iran who idiotically think this prevents war. When the truth is what no one can come to believe, that No war is on the agenda for a steadily and continuously declining power, why waste a bullet on a dead donkey, what is on the cards is keeping the IRI against the will of the people, even under the threat of an imminent war, so all these political manipulations and mass misinformation for the public are designed to deceive their primary target, the people of Iran.
