Faramarz Jan. Another reason for not spending our holiday dollars/Euros in Germany. I never liked eating half cooked sausages with rotten cabbage anyway. Here I come Pakistan. If anybody knows of any cool beaches in pakistan, please let ,me know.

Pakistan loves Iran for all the wrong reasons,

due to respect for islamist fundamentalist, religious extremism is pushed down their throats by uk funds.

As the author of article points out, while Iran is very popular in Pakistan, many Shi'at are killed there during religious holidays.

In other word, too much love can get you killed!

Disturbing fact! What is truly alarming about this, and I hope more Iranians can delve into this, is that the respondents on theses survey react to a bunch of general questions regarding a country and not necessarily to its regime. It would be horrific to learn, for example, Germans have a very unfavorable view of Iran as whole including but not limited to regime, i.e. culture, religion, people, the whole thing, etc. No one can possibly fathom this kind of stuff.

In fact, in the survey you mentioned (globescan.com), what people rated positively about Iran it's precisely Persian traditions and culture.

"Respondents holding positive views did not really single out one dominant reason compared to another.
Almost three in ten (28%) mentioned Persian traditions and culture" (p.30).

Maybe, but their respect for "Persian culture" doesn't mean that they believe Iranians adhere to those values. Nor does it imply or hint even subtly to any differentiation between the people and the State. Unless we stay in our long-held pollyannaish Persian dreams...

Its almost a matter of pride for me that we scored 91% in Germany. Let us hope next year we can do 100% there and also improve our score elsewhere. I mean in the UK we only managed a pitiful 68%.

I know its hard to achieve a 100% score but I have no doubt we can build on our current standing.

The math between the two pictures don't add up but in one of them Italians are sick and tired of Iranians faking it as Italians! These are my friends Shahab, Asghar, Hooman, Jamshid and I am Tony!

In general places where Iranians reside most are least favorable and places where they least reside the opposite! I wonder what the percentage would've been if they had asked Iranians in those countries themselves!

Actually the math is accurate. If you add the favorable to the unfavorable, the rest is the people who don't have any opinions.

As for the high unfavorable rating of Iran in the civilized world where most Iranian immigrants reside, to me that indicates that the westerners can clearly distinguish between the Iranian people and the despised Regime, hence the unfavorable ranking.

Rea2527

Yes, we do distinguish, Faramarz.
The average European knows the difference btwn the IRI and Iranians.

Ok I agree with you on the math and undecided numbers. Italy though was left out of the top chart! But I disagree with your interpretation of people in these countries distinguishing between Iranians and the regime. I believe this is mostly an immigrant stealing jobs issue.

I have a feeling if you use another country in this survey where citizens of that country have immigrated there in large numbers there will be unfavorable ratings. Europe in general is anti-immigrant these days.

Scientifically speaking people choose both nations and people that they like and dislike based on all the wrong reasons and with very little understanding.

Iranians are victims, no Iranian wants to admit it, but its the truth.

You should put the source in the post itself. It is good to know exactly how they came up with these figures.

I guess one of the reasons Germans so anti Iran these days are their strong anti nuclear feelings, the same with Japan. It is interesting to see that paying billions of dollars to Hizbollah has not helped or having its market to turkey has not helped, IRI is loathed even by its closest allies.
