IRAN LAUNCHES MONKEY INTO SPACE

This is a good news. There are many countries yet to achieve this. So I give Iran an A plus! ... Afareen be Iranian scientists ..
I can not help it but to notice that most western media outlets in reporting this news are using the word " Claim " ........ What's the matter with them? I guess they have hard time reporting good news from Iran ... Even if this is not true, at least having a project like that on the scientific table in Iran is by itself encouraging!

Iran 50 years behind, just like everything else since 1979!!!

The United States launched flights containing primate cargo primarily between 1948-1961 with one flight in 1969 and one in 1985. France launched two monkey-carrying flights in 1967. The Soviet Union and Russia launched monkeys between 1983 and 1996.

On December 23, 1969, as part of the 'Operación Navidad' (Christmas Operation), Argentina launched Juan (a cai monkey, native to Argentina's Misiones Province) using a two-stage Rigel 04 rocket. It ascended only up to 60 kilometers and then was recovered successfully.[14][15][16] This is below the international definition of space. Later, on the February 1, 1970 the experience was repeated with a female monkey of the same species using a X-1 Panther rocket. Although it reached a higher altitude than its predecessor, it was lost after the capsule's parachute failed.

It is a gimmick, used by IRI for propaganda only, no/not much scientific value for the money spent

Only lunches could make people' hungry stomachs happy & not monkey launches! Such a waste of the treasury money!

Dear Demo,

Hungry people are also living in the states should they stop their NASA funding for that? I think each has its own unique importance and should be taken care of separately and yet still seriously!

Demo

Yes, they should. Has NASA's space explorations made the earthy people any happier to date? And not only comparing our country to the states is like comparing apples with oranges, we are once again making monkey out of ourselves by not taking care of our country priorities first! This monkey show, however, surely works well as a deco to divert ordinary Iranians people away from their real earthy country problems!

The world hunger can be stopped in many other ways not necessarily by cutting the fund to the scientific R&D and happiness comes from within not without : )

By the way, most of the scientists in the history were poor or died poor ! This is even true at this age. I am not sure where the money goes but for sure it does not go to the scientist's pocket and that is a case everywhere else as well and not just in Iran.

SInce you read Quran you probably know that there is a verse which states the time one spends discovering the universe is far more valuable than hours and hours of worshiping and praying or something like that ... Got to find the verse and post it !

I think mosques in Iran should turn to a science lab and people should be trained to do science there. If there is a God and if Quran is his words then willl be more happy to see people doing that !

Here is per your request:

"Behold! in the creation of the universe and the earth, and the alternation of night and day,- there are indeed signs for men of understanding,-the ones who remember GOD, standing, sitting, and reclining, and consider the creation of the heavens and the earth, (and say): Our lord! you created not all these in vain. Glory be to your majesty! Preserve us from the doom of fire." Quran 3:190-191

GOD even creates 'nothing' per the above verses for a reason!

The 'money' most probably is being spent to develop the 'drones' types of planes to kill more people on earth as US is cutting down on its 'space monkey' bossiness:

And no. Keep the scientific experiments where they belong. As per Quran every 'believer' must act like a thoughtful scientist and his/her domicile must be turned to a private Masjid itself.

I will call it an Iranian monkey business! The bottom line is so what, they sent a monkey to space, the best Iran can be is North Korea, a country armed with ballistic missiles but starving to death nation. Thanks to the islamic republic scientists trained by ex-communist or communist Russia and North Korea.

Dear Cyrus,

Give credit where credit is due and do not be so bitter ... besides there is no such a thing as Islamic Republic Scientists but only Iranian scientists....

For example, Sharif university has been providing the scientific world with the best of the best in the field. Some stay in Iran and some choose to move abroad to be trained in their fields. We do not and SHOULD NOT undermine their credibility regardless of where and by whom they are being trained. Time for us Iranian to stop this inferior complex, this low self-esteem, this feeling of intense insecurity, or of not measuring up and, instead, start to believe in ourselves.

I also see your points and we can talk about IRI and its foreign policy someother time because that's not the point of this blog.

Thanks for stopping by

: )

Hi
I understand and really admire those hard working students and scientists. But the whole evil intention of the Islamic republic over shadows all the goodness
for me.
All those top Iranian scientists and Sharif students eventually run away from the Islamic republic like the rest of us.

The Monkey and the observer effect : the observer effect is the potential impact of the act of observing a process output while the process is running ...
and what was the observer thinking ... :
