Right To Work is a misnomer it should be The Right To Work For Less

Balatarin

"On Tuesday, the state of Michigan, the birthplace of the UAW and the nation's organized labor movement, joined Indiana, which passed right-to-work legislation in February, to become the second right-to-work state in the heavily unionized Midwest"

Once I said to an American gentleman--a young bank manager--that I had heard more than 200 million Chinese suffer from mental retardation disorder. He was shocked. And I continued, almost the same number of people in the US suffer from MRD. He laughed and I said, if as you yourself just said, only two percent of the population own almost all the wealth in this great democracy, then there must be something wrong with the brains of the other 98%! He laughed even louder!

Passing such laws is an admirable feat, but creating jobs is even more admirable!

Great comment @G. Rahmanian , we had severe MRD in Iran in 1979, a people who had enjoyed the largest growth of middle class, skills, work and ownership in the entire world, percentage wise for their own society, had difficulty realizing and admitting Iran enjoyed one of the most lawfully and democratically acting Leaders in the world of that era. Their quality of thinking was so stupid, the followed the lead of the west, extremists and anti-monarchists, disingenuously name calling him a dictator, despot, tyrant, crook, megalomaniac etc I thought acute mental retardation disorder was unique to Iranians until I came to study in the USA lol,

I agree that unions have a strong role in the labor world. But, what if you don't think your union is doing the right thing for you? You can exit your union but without the so called "right to work" legislation they would continue collecting your dues. Giving the unions the power to collect dues regardless of the opinion of their members is not right.
I guess we should be more nuanced when talking about complex problems and illuminate pros and cons.

Capitalism works as long as it is regulated but I am not sure where this is heading now ! Unfortunately, they only care about the business not the working people ... at the end of the day it is the Union that is going to be by the workers side... not the companies and not the government...

Please stop the "shoars": we have to this, we have to do that..............
Please right what is bad about the law and what is good.
We had many "shars" back then in 1979, and everything sucked.

We Iranians are really geniuses and powerful creators when we honor ourselves and our non-islamic culture.

Reflect back on the answers we came up with to modern problems in the 1970's and how much better our solutions were. I think its safe to say we proved Unions are not the answer, more corruption never is the answer and in practice this is what unions create. Unions become necessary when the political system is so filthy as one finds in the west that workers need the protection from acute unregulated life rape, in which case the corruption becomes a secondary issue.

In Iran take the case of all the state industries, the workers owned iranian steel, they were the main share holders of their own efforts by law, they had no union and no need for one, as their case and the care they enjoyed was impeccable, of course the head of the steel industry in Iran unlike the west therefore did not have private jets for himself, but was in fact ordering private jets for workers to go for medical treatment in the west, when it was not available in Iran. Its why the memory of the Shahs team, beyond the propaganda used to create/manufacture so called "iranian democrats who happened to be not supportive of the monarchy" in order to have them exercise their acute mental retardation disorder and harm other Iranians to the benefit of the interests of the west.

I was saying below this is why we had severe MRD in Iran in 1979, a people who had enjoyed the largest growth of middle class, skills, work and ownership in the entire world, percentage wise for their own society, had difficulty realizing and admitting Iran enjoyed one of the most lawfully and democratically acting Leaders in the world of that era.
