Mehregan, An Iranian-American Tradition?!

During the eleven years since I moved out of Iran, I have learned many things about life, the world, and even Iran. One of the most interesting things I have learned living in California has been the origins and rituals of Iranians’ ancient Mehregan celebration. Think about it. I lived in Iran for the first 18 years of my life, and I had never heard about Mehregan! To make matters a bit more embarrassing, I am from Kerman, a city with a large Zoroastrian population among whom Mehregan is observed and celebrated annually! Why had I never heard about this Persian celebration before? When I saw Iranican’s report on Mehregan all of that changed. I realized I wasn’t the only Iranian who didn’t know about Mehregan before emigrating to US. Iranican’s TV crew, comprised of young Iranian Americans who live in the San Francisco Bay Area, pursued answers to their questions about Mehregan, found those answers, and shared them with us. See their report here: http://www.iranican.com/blog/?p=23
