IAEA draws the line for warmonger Israel

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reportedly responds to those who threaten to attack countries over their nuclear activities.

In an interview with the German news magazine Der Spiegel, IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei said threatening any country that has a nuclear program undermines the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

“One undermines the international treaty framework with unilateral military action,” ElBaradei warned, suggesting that a ‘historic change’ is now taking place.

The IAEA chief then pointed to Israel’s bombardment of Syrian territory last September over US claims that North Korea had helped Damascus build a nuclear reactor.

As Syria denies ever having such a facility, the UN nuclear watchdog later hammered Tel Aviv for not informing the IAEA to carry out inspections of the area prior to the military action.

ElBaradei is believed to have been responding to Friday remarks by Israeli deputy prime minister Shaul Mofaz, who accused Tehran of pursuing a nuclear weapons program and threatened that Israel would launch a military attack on Iran.

Regarding the issue, the Islamic Republic says as a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty, it is entitled to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes and insists that it has not diverted from the civilian use of nuclear energy.
