the first time i had the pleasure of going to theater was at the age of five or six when my parents made the fatal mistake of taking me there. they took me to a play at one of the theaters in downtown tehran. the story revolved around the one sided relationship between the man of the house and the reluctant family maid. whenever the wife was out the man would run to the young and pretty maid and start kissing her while she would try to run away from him. One day the man was kissing and touching the maid on the couch (again against her wishes) when the wife walked in and caught them red handed. she was very angry and was about to cry. the husband turned to her and said darling i am innocent and turning to the maid he continued that it was she who had seduced him. the audience was still and tense waiting for the maid to defend herself when i jumped on my seat and screamed out to the wife telling her the whole story about her husband’s bad behaviour. the whole theatre including the cast started laughing non stop and they had to close the curtains for a five minute break.
