Contrary to the stereotyped image, the Mullahs are a pragmatist lot & grasp the difference between the patriotic youth generation of post-Shah Iran & todays Id-less lost generation.
The post Shah generation of the late 70,s had the priviledge of growing up under a patriotic education system that strenghtened the Iranic national identity, the Glue that holds national unity & collective heritage under the Iranic umbrella of nationhood. That generation grew up & rightfully was forced fed the true concept of Iran,s legacy and her iconic figures such as Arash Kamangir,Ferdowsi,Cyrus the great,Darius,Artaxerxes,Xerxes,shahpour I,Kaveh Ahangar, Abu Muslim, Babak Khoramdin,Rustam, Siavash & so on…
In contrast I believe the IRI through it,s organized De-Iranianizing policy of cultural distortion & fake culture building has erased that Glue & sewn the precursor to Iran,s demise.
Shah used to say that “Iran will become Iranestan without Me”, and the reason it didn,t happen the way He predicted it was due to the fact that the generation that proceeded him had still a grain of that patriotic education in them to keep the country intact even through 80,s war and meyham…
The IRI case is different & I strongly suspect that in the case of an attack via an external adversary the IRI will go & So might Iran…and it,s a factual irony..Yes IRI will fall fast but then again a Foreign invasion will be the end of Iran & a double jeopardy. Any foreign based force or ideology be it America, Islamo-Marxist, Ommatist Reformist ,semi Jehadists or blah blah blah won,t make a zilch of Assistance to our unavoidable task of changing the status que unless it,s a bottom line pure & simple Iranic solution without any “Ism” attached.
The ethnic groups in Iran after 30 yrs of Pan-Ommatism seek their lineage,Heritage and pride in their own petty tribalism be it Balouchi,Azari,Arab or Turkomen.There is no more an identifiable national bond such as Iranic collective heritage or Icons such as Babak to hang on to but glorified foreign figures of the kind of Horr, Ghassem mutaana,Al Meghdad,Abuzar or Ammar ibn Yasser which represent total irrelevence to Iranic national self knowledge…
net result of the current national psyche is a nation that large chunks of it won,t give a hoot about what happens outside their tribal lines.
How will history judge a nation of serfs who under sword has changed it,s religion twice ..once from Zororostrian to Sunni and later from Sunni to Shia.A nation whom under challenges always look for outsiders to come in and help her defeat a tyrant wether they be Afghani, Ottoman , British or Russian? Is that the legacy of Iran & Cyrus?
The one Exception
We all can learn a thing or two from the proud Kurds who for 1400 yrs have paid with their blood to keep their pure Iranic culture intact and have fought generation after generation against regime after regime from Safavid who wanted to force convert them to mongols, Turks,Saddam and IRI without begging outsiders to come in and fight their battle for them . High on top of the Zagross mountains for centuries these glorious medes have given their middle fingers to home made dictators and the foreign aggressors such as Xenephone Greeks,Romans,Arabs Monghols & Shia Safavids to stay true to their calling.They indeed have been fighting for all of us so called “Iranis” for too long single handedly and yet carry the name tag of “sessesionist“. I wonder who are the real Sessesionits, Us who betray the idea of Iran or them who stayed true to it..
