Ghogha Khalatbari, head of anjomaneh daaneshvaraaneh iraan, accomplished poet, brother of famed poet Simin Behbahani, and a friend of my Dad, died last week of complications of cancer.
He was a big fan of Rumi, and a few years ago, after visiting Rumi’s grave in Ghooneeyeh, he came up with a poem , called ‘man az ghooneeyeh mee-aayam..” (I come from Ghooneeyeh..”)
At a party, and quite spontaneously, my Dad played his violin and someone sang this poem as a song. I filmed it, and now I am putting it on line, in his memory. If you like Rumi, you’ll love this song.
Because of spontaneity of it, the coordination is sometimes lacking, and I have not asked the singer if I can put this on line. Therefore, I felt compelled to obscure his face. His voice is still lovely.
May God bless his soul.
