Iran says manhunt launched over ‘suicide’ attack

TEHRAN (AFP) – The Iranian judiciary said on Tuesday that security forces had launched a manhunt in southeastern Iran for those behind a suicide attack which killed two policemen last month.

Police and intelligence forces “are pursuing the suspects as it has been a suicide act and the main perpetrator has died in the incident,” judiciary spokesman Ali Reza Jamshidi told reporters.

It was the first official confirmation of the December 29 incident being a suicide attack in which two policemen were killed and 10 wounded in the city of Saravan in the border province of Sistan-Baluchestan.
