SOPHIE’S CHOICE !

Sophie’s Choice is a 1982 American drama film that tells the story of a beautiful Polish immigrant, Sophie, and her tempestuous lover who share a boarding house with a young writer in Brooklyn. It stars Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline, and Peter MacNicol. Alan J. Pakula directed the movie and wrote the script from a novel by William Styron, also called Sophie’s Choice.

Plot: “Sophie is the survivor of Nazi concentration camps, who has found a reason to live in Nathan, a sparkling if unsteady American Jew obsessed with the Holocaust. They befriend Stingo, the movie’s narrator, a young American writer new to New York City. But the happiness of Sophie and Nathan is endangered by her ghosts and his obsessions.”

It Won Academy Award for Best Actress (Streep). Nominations for Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Original Score and Best Adapted Screenplay.
