Bienvenue en France Madame Ebadi ! French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner and secretary to Human Rights Issues Rama Yade, have greeted Mrs. Ebadi in Paris on Friday to speak about Human Rights issues in Iran.

Bernard Kouchner greeted Iranian Lawyer and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate 2003 Shirine Ebadi on Friday, to discuss about the deterioration of Human Rights situation in Iran which “deeply pre occupies France”, said Kouchner. France Foreign Minister reasserted his support to “the activities of her organization the circle of defenders of Human Rights and their support for Iranian Civil Society” said a spokesman for the Foreign Ministry. “The French Foreign Ministery strongly protested against the closing of the office of Mrs. Ebadi on the 22nd of Dec. and asked Iranian authorities to allow the Office to be reopened and asked Iranian authorities to grant an official legal status to this office as requested by Mr. Ebadi and her colleagues for several years now.” The Iranian police had closed the offices of Mrs. Ebadi’s organization on the 21st of December on grounds of illegal activities. Shirin Ebadi is in Paris today to participate to a reunion at the United Nations in the field of research and training (Unitar).
