And so the Kurds are surprised…There is great wonderment at how a force which previously discounted Kurds, forbid the letter “w,” discounted Kurdish as a language, could now be opening up a Kurdish language and literature department at a university….Even if it’s seen as a way of staving off bans or taking a few trumps out of the hands of the PKK [Kurdistan Workers’ Party], it is still a very creative move.”
