Eddy Mitchell Et Le Rêve Américain

Eddy Mitchell is a French Rocker and Crooner whose songs are often a tribute to Hollywood’s Golden Age with its share of illusions and broken bitter sweet dreams or the American Way of Life as illustrated in the idealistic paintings of Norman Rockwell. He was one of my favorite French Singers when I came to France after the Revolution. Since I was essentially exposed to an American education in Iran, His John Wayne Looks also reminded me of our School Bus Driver Akbar Agha who was just a copy of him but with a mustache. ;0)

I could relate to his songs and performances as a teen. In addition he had a program on French TV that ran for years called La Derniere Séance aka the Last Picture Show which would introduce all the Hollywood Classics.

Hope you Enjoy the songs of the Most American French Singer ( Or is it the other way round ? ) on this Oscar Weekend …

The TV Show Derniere Séance: (Eddy has an encyclopedia knowledge of Old Hollywood Films …)

And the Song La Derniere Séance ( He mumbles in this one which owes him the nickname of Monsieur Schmoll) :

Les tuniques bleues et les indiens

Norman Rockwell

fume cette cigarette (eddy mitchell and mort schuman ( One of the Song writers of Elvis in his early years like Viva Las Vegas))

Sur La Route de Memphis (One of My Favorites)

Il Ne Rentre Pas Ce Soir ( about a man who loses his job at age 50):

Toujours Un coin qui me rappel

Under the Rainbow (tribute to the Wizard of Oz):

Couleur Menthe à L’Eau:

Cimetiere des Elephants ( After short intro: A Pretty Girl in the clip):
