Contra Costa Times — While much of the media and world attention was on the death of Michael Jackson, one of the largest rallies yet was held in Westwood Sunday, June 28, to seek political reforms in Iran. A crowd estimated by police at 5,000 people gathered at the Federal Building around 1 p.m. for an “Iranian Demonstration for Human Rights in West Los Angeles.” In addition to protesting what they consider to have been a rigged election, in which President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was reelected, they are seeking more freedom and equality in the Islamic state.
