Neda ye Sarzamin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nemIWvh_Mqs
Images of Neda’s final moments of life, being completely drenched in blood, have captured our hearts and souls…
As confirmed by her fiancé, Caspian Makan, she was not even amongst the protesters, nor was she wearing or holding anything green to signal her opposition to the outcome of the election or to the current regime.
According to Caspian Maken, she was in the car with her music teacher after a music lesson, and due to the heat and exhaustion of driving for an hour and being stuck in the traffic, she decided to come out of the car, take a fresh air and then resume driving.
It was whilst she came out of the car and was standing as an innocent bystander that she was shot dead.

It is indeed very unjust that such an innocent life should be taken away for no apparent reason.
However, what is even more worrying is the extent of exploitation of Neda’s innocent death for political point-scoring.
Just a few days ago, on 23 June 2009 an American Congressman, named Thaddeus McCotter, was quick to “seize the moment” as he called it, to embrace an enlarged photo of Neda in the US Congress and to urge the Congress to go to the aid of his Iranian “brothers and sisters”.

The above comments by McCotter go hand in hand with Henry Alfred Kissinger’s recent threat that “we may conclude that we must work for regime change in Iran from the outside”.

Whilst it is undeniably true that the brutalities of the current regime are indeed extremely immoral, inhumane, unjust and heartbreaking, let us not forget that the aftermath and consequences of America’s invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan are much much, much worse than the current situation in Iran.
The solution is therefore not in a direct military attack on Iran for a regime change.
Let us not allow the death of a young and innocent person be exploited as a justification for a direct military attack on our country.
Let us not see a repeat of America’s invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan.
Neda did not want to be the victim of unscrupulous political games…..
Neda did not want to be the “voice” for political point-scoring….
Let us not allow that……
Not in her name…….
