Haj Mansour Arzi, a famous Tehran Madah (one who recites
eulogy-like religious poetry), urged participants of Ihya ceremonies in
Arg Mosque to pray for the death of the leaders of the unrest.
In his controversial speech, Arzi claimed that ‘100 boys and girls
were taken to a swimming pool filled with alcohol, where they were
given drugs and raped one another before being turned loose on the
protesters whom they assaulted and killed.’
“The coming of satellite TV into homes has changed the situation of
the country so that some people take pride in claiming to be rape
victims,” he said.
He went on to urge people to pray for the death of the leaders of
the unrest, saying, “These immature young people are not behind the
unrest. Rather the culprits are those leaders who wanted to discredit
the sacred establishment of the Islamic Republic.”
