The Empire State Building will be glowing green tonight, and just in time for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s visit to New York for the UN General Assembly.
While green is the adopted color of the Iranian protest movement, the color selection was actually made for another reason: it’s the 70th anniversary of the film Wizard of Oz.
No matter, as activists view the lighting as more than mere coincidence, but fate.
“The universe is smiling and the stars are aligned!” wrote a blogger named Anonymous Iran, according to the . “I’m so happy I could cry!”
The lighting will occur at the same time as activists stage protests against the Iranian leadership throughout the city.
