Heart’s Cup Full of Love

Life can be so harsh on a person. I think that this can be agreed on by many. It is so easy to build a thick wall around one’s heart. So much so that one day they wake up and feel absolutely nothing for no one and anything.

Personally, it sounds like an awful way to live one’s life. I have been told by many that I wear my emotions on my sleeve. I have been adviced to not do so because it will do me harm. So what is the alternative? Is it to become so guarded that I let no one in? Can there be a balance?

I must confess that for many years I was indeed very guarded of my heart. No one could get in but my sons. Only when it came to my sons would I feel any kind of emotion. I was like the rock of Gibraltor. I know that it is hard to believe it now but it is true.

It all came about due to a very awful marriage, divorce, couple of Hurricanes and the list is extensive. However, one day I woke up and realized that I wanted so much better not only for myself but for my sons. I decided that I was going to make the necessary changes. I just wasn’t sure how to do so.

I realized that if one does not fill one’s heart with love often  then only bitterness and sorrow will reside. There must be a balance if one truly wants to live a balanced life. It is part of putting one first, being kind  and loving to oneself.

I have been amazed at the power of LOVE. It can both destroy or strengthen. It is up to us to decide which it will do. Yes, there are circumstances in life that get in the way. Yet, we still can decide how we will react to what comes our way.

It is so important that no matter what bad comes our way that we take the time to fill the heart with some love and joy from time to time. A friend of mine likes to  say “Sometimes a human needs to pour some love in its heart’s cup… Before the cup turns into stone.” So be kind to yourself and fill your heart with some love today. :o) It will do your heart a lot of good.
