Iran wins Asian Boys’ Volleyball Championship

Iran claimed the title of the 8th Asian Boys’
Volleyball Championship in a hard-fought victory over China on Friday.

In
the match held at the full-packed Azadi Stadium Hall, Iran defeated
China 3-2 (25-17, 26-28, 28-26, 22-25, 15-7) and won the championship.

This
is Iran’s fifth title in the Asian Youth Volleyball Championship. The
Persians won the gold medal in 2001, 2005, 2007 and 2008.
 
The
defending champion had already advanced to the 2011 FIVB Boys’ Youth
World Championship and this new victory booked a place for them in the
first Youth Olympic Games in Singapore as Asia’s first representative.
 
South
Korea beat India 3-1 and finished in third place.
 
A total of 10
teams took part in the event.
