A file photo from Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani in Savak prison. Rafsanjani became a prominent revolutionary figure after the Islamic Revolution of 1979 and he survived in the high ranks of IRI helping create and lead the Expediency Discernment Council. (circa late 1970’s). Rafsanjani’s Responsability in the Death of the Shah’s Last Prime Minister Shapour Bakhtiar as well as Fereidoun Farrokhzad and other political dissidents in the late 1990’s has been exposed by the French Judge Jean-Louis Bruguière . In recent Years he has become enstranged with the Supreme Leader he helped Create as well as with the current Leadership of the Islamic Republic.
