Official: Iran Has Documents to Prove Saddam’s Orders for Chemical Attack



TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iranian military official said that Iran
is in possession of a top secret document which contains orders of the
former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, for the use of weapons of mass
destruction (WMDs) against Iran in the 1980-1988 war.

Deputy Head of the Foundation for the Remembrance and Promotion of
the Holy Defense’s Values General Davood Qiathi-Raad said in a ceremony
to commemorate the victims of Sardasht chemical attack that the
document proves Saddam repeatedly used banned weapons to confront the
Iranian nation.

“This document suffices to convince the entire world that the
Iranian nation was oppressed by the Baath regime’s chemical attacks,”
Qiathi-Raad added.

He further mentioned that his foundation has already published the
document and handed it over to several study centers.

Sardasht is a city in Northwestern Iran. According to the 2006
census, its population was 37,000. It lies in the West Azarbaijan
province. It was the first city in which civilians where attacked with
chemical weapons by former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein during the
imposed Iraqi war on Iran.
