Tehran has smacked down pleas by France, the European Union and even the Vatican to reconsider the punishment of a mother of two sentenced to death by stoning for adultery.
“[They are] defending a person who is being tried for murder and adultery,” Foreign Ministry Ramin Mehmanparast said at a news conference, “which are two major crimes of this lady and should not become a human rights issue.”
