1 – Why is this campaign launched? Many Iranians are currently in prison in different cities of Iran for having expressed their opinion and having ideas that differ from those of the ruling government. In addition, their families are persistently pressed so that they don’t provide news about their loved ones. Sometimes the pressure exerted on the families is more than that exerted on the prisoners themselves. The families of prisoners of conscience are banned from giving interviews to the media; they are harassed and threatened and sometimes are even arrested. The pressure exerted on the families of prisoners of conscience became the sparking motivation to initiate the Free My Family Campaign. We want to be the voices of Iranian Prisoners of Conscience, their families, and their friends.
