Stop the War Coalition Adopts CASMII’s Resolution

The Stop the War Coalition (STWC), the premier anti-war activist organization based in the UK, passed CASMII’s resolution in its annual conference in London on 30th October.
STWC is a coalition of different anti-war groups, consisting of local branches throughout the UK, labour unions and student bodies opposed to war in Afghanistan and Iraq, and socialist parties. STWC was set up in 2001 as a result of US decision to invade Afghanistan- a decision which was endorsed by UK government. STWC was instrumental in mobilizing millions of people who marched in London against the war in Iraq and has been in the forefront of opposing war ever since.
STWC’s annual national conference was held in Conway Hall in central London and was attended by more than 300 delegates- drawn from different groups who have opposed war in Afghanistan and Iraq. The whole day annual national conference in London on 30 October debated SWTC’s policies, strategy and campaigns for the coming year. The continuing wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, opposition to sanctions on Iran, the threat of an attack on Iran, the siege of Gaza, and the escalating Islamophobia in Britain, were the main topics which were discussed.
