Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed in 2009 that Iran was months away from achieving military nuclear capability, classified documents released by WikiLeaks on Sunday quote a State Department official as saying.
According to the WikiLeaks report, to be published in Monday’s issue of German newspaper Der Spiegel, Netanyahu informed the United States of Iran’s nuclear advancement in November of 2009.
However, the U.S. diplomat quoted in the classified cable said in response to the premier’s warning that Netanyahu’s estimate was likely unfounded and meant to pressure Washington into action against the Islamic Republic.
