For Namjoo Heads: concert and new album news!

I would like to share some very exciting news about the extraordinary Iranian artist, Mohsen Namjoo, with you. First, to his Bay Area fans I would like to say that like last year, he will be having a concert at Stanford University’s Pan-Asian Music Festival on Sunday, February 13, 2011. The concert announcement on Stanford’s Music Department website says:

Pan-Asian Music Festival: An Evening with Mohsen Namjoo

The critically-acclaimed Iranian artist Mohsen Namjoo gives a unique career-spanning performance featuring fellow Iranian musicians from the Bay Area. The concert will be followed by a celebration of Namjoo’s new album, Useless Kisses, released by Payam Entertainment and sponsored in part by the Pan-Asian Music Festival. This collection of love songs and poetry, written during 1995 – 2006 and never before released, is Namjoo’s most personal album to date. Tickets go on sale January 18 at Stanford Ticket Office. Sunday, February 13, 2011. 7:30 PM; Dinkelspiel Auditorium (Map); Admission: general $20 | student $10 | senior $19 |

Later in February, Mohsen Namjoo will be taking his Namjoo in “A Minor” Live performance on tour. Below is a list of his upcoming performances. There is more information about his tour on his website.

You can pre-order Namjoo’s new album, Useless Kisses, through his website (Price $15.99). The album will ship on February 5, 2011. If you order before January 31, you can take advantage of a 35% discount. This is the first time Mohsen Namjoo is producing an album entirely on his own, and it is really important that as his fans outside Iran, we support this independent artist by buying his album. When Namjoo’s album Oy came out in 2009, he announced that because Iranians inside Iran could not buy his album, they were allowed to download his music and donate to a charity of their own, instead. I’m sure Namjoo fans outside Iran, who can have access to his album, would act to support him by buying their own copies of what promises to be another unique collection of poetry and music.

I can’t wait to go to his February concert at Stanford University! Come along and let’s enjoy this gifted artist’s unique brand of music and poetry together!
