Opinion: The US Isn’t Powerless In Libya

Moammar Gadhafi refuses to go down without a fight — killing hundreds of civilians through indiscriminate firing from airplanes and helicopter gunships and by foreign mercenaries.

In a vintage, rambling harangue on state television, Gadhafi today inveighed against the opposition as “greasy rats and cats” and sought to rekindle the anti-Americanism of the 1980s when U.S., not Libyan, warplanes struck Libya.

“I am a revolutionary,” the 68-year-old yelled, gesturing with his fists. “I will not leave the country and I will die as a martyr in the end.”
