Iran’s fourth national car is unveiled (Photos)

Tehran, April 17 (IANS) Iran’s leading automaker – Iran Khodro Company (IKCO) – has come out with a luxury car, Dena, that will soon hit the markets.

Dena has been designed and manufactured by Iranian experts and complies with Euro IV and Euro V emission standards, Xinhua quoted Iranian Minister of Industries and Mines Ali-Akbar Mehrabian telling Press TV about the new car.

Dena will comes in LX and ELX models. While the LX version is powered by an EF7 petrol engine and a CNG engine, the ELX version is powered by a turbo-charged EF7 engine.

A manual gearbox is fitted in the car, but an electronically-controlled automatic transmission system could be a future option, the report stated.

On Iran’s participation in car markets, IKCO Chief Executive Officer Javad Najmeddin said: ‘We already have markets in 30 counties. Last year, we exported 40,000 automobiles, and now with Dena we are targeting luxury car markets.
