Delicious news for Iran & Israel

Delicious news, a bipartisan group of lawmakers, two Senators and two Congressmen, have injected human rights into the sanctions regime against the weaponized nuke acquiring Islamist Rapists terrorizing the Iranian people and the world at large.

The press release about “The Iran Human Rights and Democracy Promotion Act of 2011” states in part:

“Legislation would establish a “Special Representative on Human Rights and Democracy in Iran” with budget authority over all relevant funding and impose sanctions on companies that sell or service products that enable the Iranian regime to oppress its people. It would require a comprehensive strategy to promote Internet freedom in Iran and reauthorize the Iran Freedom Support Act.”

This is a small step in the right direction. A free and democratic Iran, even if her emancipated people choose to explore nuke technology, would be an asset to the club of sane countries and certainly a strategic partner for Israel, currently the only existing democracy in the entire Middle East.

Kudos to Senators  Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) in the Senate and to Congressmen Robert Dold (R-Ill.) and Ted Deutch (D-Fla.) in the House.

This legislation is long overdue, a no-brainer and Congress must swiftly pass it.
