چکامه ای برای یک تابلو

نقّاشی زیبایت روبرویم بر دیوار
نشسته است

و مرا به دور ترها و فراتر ها
به سرزمین کهنت، یمن، که
این روزها مرکز جنگ و جدل است
می برد

و از درون پنجره های رویائی در تصویرت
که آراسته به پرده هائی وهم انگیز است
به درون خانه هائی که پر از
صلح و صفاست
رهنمون می شود.

تک درخت گوشۀ چپ تصویر
هم سدّی ست در برابر هُرم خورشید
هم سایه بخش رهروان است.

حوله و پیراهن روی بند کنار درخت
صبورانه در انتظار است که صاحبش
نیازرده و یک پارچه
از درون جنجال هائی که سرزمینت را
در خود فرو برده و فراگرفته
به سلامت باز گردد.

و چنین نیز خواهد شد!

An Ode to a painting

Your beautiful painting
Is sitting in front of me
On the wall

It takes me to much
Farther place, your ancient country, Yemen,
now is a center of turmoil and hostility

the dreamy windows on your painting
with its fancy drapes and vague lights,
welcome me to homes which are
the center of peace and tranquility

The lonely tree on the left of the canvas
Both blocks the heat and
Patronages the passer byes

The towel and shirt on the rope
by the tree
Is patiently waiting for its
Owner to come back
Victorious, hurtl-free and in one piece
Through the fiery rages swallowing
your country.

And will it be!
