Leila Esfandyari in fatal fall on GII

(Newsdesk) Iranian Mountainzone reports that Iranian lady climber Leila Esfandyari fell to her death while descending from GII’s summit today.

According to the report, Leila summited with a few of her team members but fell on her way back to C3. The Iranian team is resting in C3 and more details are expected tomorrow. According to IMZ and Karrar Haidri in Islamabad the news have been confirmed by outfitting ATP.

Earlier today, IMZ reported that a group from Iran (6 men and Leila) was joining the summit push from C3. “Three other Iranian climbers will follow from C2,” IMZ added.

“It’s worth noting that Leila touched 7885 m last Thursday and returned back to BC quickly because of harsh weather, while the other climbers currently in C3 reached BC only last Friday and are on their first acclimatization round,” IMZ wrote.

GII reportedly had around 15 summits today. All teams reported consistent snow fall through Thursday.
Further news is expected also from the Polish-Ukrainian girls.
