Iran’s President Blames Aliens for Insecurity in Region

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad blamed the ongoing insecurities in the region on the military deployment of the foreign powers, and underlined that the regional countries are fully able to restore and maintain durable peace and security.

“The main cause of insecurity in the region is the presence of the aliens. (Regional) Nations themselves are able to establish durable security and stability in their countries,” Ahmadinejad said in a meeting with his Iraqi counterpart Jalal Talabani in New York.

Elsewhere in the meeting, Ahmadinejad noted the conditions in Iraq, and said that Iran supports Iraq’s territorial integrity and establishment of sustainable security in the country.

“The Iranian and Iraqi nations and governments are in a common front and are moving towards expansion of mutual cooperation through a common view,” he added.

Talabani, too, underlined Iran’s key role in the region and on the international scene, and stated that Iraq is seeking to further consolidate and deepen all-out ties and cooperation with Iran.

Iran and Iraq have enjoyed growing ties ever since the overthrow of the former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, in 2003.
