Obama’s former special envoy to Middle East, Dennis Ross, on challenges facing diplomacy in the region

President Obama’s former special envoy to the Middle East has said more pressure should be put on Iran to stop it taking the next steps towards making nuclear weapons.

In his first British interview since stepping down, Dennis Ross explained the challenges facing diplomacy in the region.

If Iran gets a nuclear bomb, he said, it will lead to a nuclear arms race with Turkey and Saudi Arabia, which will “dramatically increase the risk of a nuclear war”.
