The Iranian Government is currently engaged in an ambitious military expansion programme. The country is the world’s second largest oil producer and over the past four years it has spent more than 12 billion dollars on sophisticated military hardware. This report looks at the advanced weaponry now being used by the army, navy and air force and examines Iran’s role in the strategically important Gulf area.
