Gathered by a French Baron and arts collector after his travels to Persia in 1872 the important collection includes some 350 paintings and rare items all of which were granted to the City of Castre in the late 19th century. The precious items were partly hurt during WW 2 due to transport out of the city and returned to the museum at the Liberation. The Museum hopes to restore these items in their original splendor thanks to art sponsors.

Placed under the patronage of Her Imperial Majesty Shahbanou Farah Pahlavi, a gala dinner , was therefiore organized for the first time by the city, in a bid to promote cultural sponsorships in the French riviera town. The dinner helped raise 20 000 euros.

Another 190 000 euros will be needed to inaugurate the Persian hall of the Museum of Castre. Donations can be made at the the official Heritage site : site de la Fondation du patrimoine.
