Fairfax County Police released video on Jan. 24 of U.S. Park Police chasing Bijan Ghaisar‘s vehicle on Nov. 17 and firing shots. Ghaisar, 25, later died.
What we know:
The video reveals for the first time what happened after the 25-year-old accountant fled the scene of a fender bender in Alexandria, Virginia.
The video captures two brief encounters in which Ghaisar stopped for police and shows the two Park Police officers ran to his car, and both times an officer pointed a gun at Ghaisar. Both times, Ghaisar then drove away without any apparent interaction with the officers.
There does not appear to be any interaction with or provocation by Ghaisar in the moments before he was repeatedly shot.
His Jeep began to move slowly forward again after stopping, the video shows, sparking the first set of five shots. When the Jeep drifted forward four seconds later, the officers fired two more times at close range. When it drifted again 11 seconds later, the officers fired a final two shots, the video show.
The FBI is investigating the shooting but has refused to release any information about the case.
