MOSCOW, March 21 (Xinhua) — Russian miliraty-industrial complex has increased its output by 13 percent in 2010 and the government would invest over 20 trillion rubles (706 billion U.S. dollars) for army re-armament program by 2020, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said on Monday.
Speaking in the Russian weaponry industry’s heartland of Votkinsk, Putin said these investments will be pumped into a high-tech sphere.
The prime minister also revealed Russia would double its production of missile systems from 2013 and promised Russian forces would receive a range of new weaponry, including the strategic Yars and Bulava ICBMs, the anti-aircraft Iskander-M, Pantsir-S and the S-400 Triumph missile systems.
According to Putin, the government will allocate some 77 billion rubles (2.8 billion dollars) for the missile systems production.
