Washington, 20 July (WashingtonTV)—A group of Iranian press photographers on Sunday called on the Iranian Photojournalists’ Association to break what they called its “silence” over the crackdown on media and arrests of journalists and photographers, following the disputed 12 June presidential election.
In a letter addressed to the association’s board of directors, the 45 photographers condemned the “beatings, arrests, threats, loss of photography equipment, confiscation of pictures, and the ban on filming and producing news” which took place since Election Day.
“The silence by the Iranian Photojournalists’ Association, as the only true trade association bound to decisively support all photographers, [both] members and non-members [of the association], is surprising,” the letter read. >>>
