* Let the genie out
Ganji is a journalist who has let the genie out of the Islamic Republic's
secret box. He and his colleagues, especially Emaddin Baqi and Quchani
have dared to raise questions that no opposition member could air in the
IRI. They had the courage and the conscience to follow this task, even
though it may cost them their life. Abdollah Nouri is a mid-ranking cleric
who dared to challenge the suppressive nature of a state he helped create.
These men have removed a number of obstacles in the bumpy road toward the
democratizatin in Iran. We are still far away from a democratic Iran. However,
the dice is rolling and these guys have cast their share!

* Impact on student movement
It appears that Ganji has defied death threats against himself by attempting
to expose various elements within the ruling regime. I believe the actions
of brave journalists like Ganji and satirist Ebrahim Nabavi have had an
important bearing on the student movement which took place in July of last
year.
