Cultural complex model, entrance.

The ground-breaking ceremony for Iran's first national cultural complex is due to be held in late May.

The complex, to be built on the hills of Abbas Abad, northeast of Argentine Square in Tehran, is the largest national architechtural project undertaken by the government since 1979.

It is comprised of three research centers dedicated to literature, science and medicine, two auditoriums, a major library, conference center, guesthouse and a mosque.

Several private architectural firms competed for the contract. The winning design, presented below, is by the Naqsh Co., led by Kambiz Navaie.
