Russian Companies Interested in Investment in Iran
MOSCOW, July 28 (Itar-Tass) -- Russia's First Vice Premier Nikolai Aksyonenko
told journalists after a meeting with Iranian Minister of Metallurgy and
Mines Eshak Jahangiri that the participation of Russian firms in the international
forum on investments in the mining and metallurgical industry of Iran
scheduled for October 19 and 20, 1999 in Teheran could facilitate their
familiarisation with the investment climate in Iran and provide additional
possibilities for cooperation with the Islamic Republic in the indicated
industries.
Aksyonenko named a number of Russian companies, including Zarubezhgeologia
and Tyazhpromexport, which could take part in the Iranian forum.
With regard to the current tender held in Iran for the modernisation
of the Isphagan metallurgical plant which was built with Russian assistance,
Aksyonenko asked the visiting Iranian minister to pay attention to the
bid made by a consortium of Russian companies comprising Tyazhpromexport,
Zarubezhchermet, Gipromez and Girpokoks.
Aksyonenko recalled that agreements and contracts worth a total of up
to eight billion dollars were in the works within the framework of the
Intergovernmental Russian-Iranian commission on economic cooperation.
