Komura plans to visit Iran , to convey loan resumption

TOKYO, June 24 (Japan Economis Newswire) -- Foreign Minister Masahiko Komura plans to visit Iran shortly after the current Diet session ends Aug. 13 to convey Japan's plan to partially resume loans to Iran , a senior Foreign Ministry official said Thursday.

Komura also intends to visit some nations near Iran , the official said.

Vice Foreign Minister Shunji Yanai said last week that Japan will resume yen-denominated loans for a dam project in the southwestern Iranian province of Khuzestan.

Japan has been considering lifting its freeze on yen loans since Iranian President Mohammad Khatami came to office in 1997 with a moderate and pragmatic policy.
