AMERICAN-IRANIAN COUNCIL, July 7, 2000 -- Positions: American-Iranian Council, Inc., a Princeton-based non-profit research and educational think tank, is seeking two dynamic individuals to fill the full-time positions of Executive Director and Administrative Assistant.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Responsibilities: The Executive Director will work under direct supervision of AIC's President, fulfilling the mission and objectives of the organization. The Executive Director plays a central role in AIC, as he/she is also responsible for planning, implementing, and coordinating activities of AIC. Such activities include conferences and exchange programs, fundraising and membership recruitment, public relations and outreach, and communication with the AIC leadership and members.

Qualifications: The Executive Director is expected to have a graduate degree and be committed to the mission of AIC. Previous experience in international organizations or policy institutions is desirable. Written and spoken communication skills in English and Persian, competence in fundraising and public relations, a highly-organized approach to work, and proficiency in the use of computers (such as knowledge of word processors, data-base software, and e-mail/web site) are essential.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Responsibilities: The Administrative Assistant will work under the supervision of the Executive Director. He/She will be responsible for the management of the database, accounting and finances, and general office operations including administrative and secretarial tasks.

Qualifications: The Administrative Assistant is expected to have a bachelors degree and/or adequate administrative and secretarial experience, excellent written and communication skills, proficiency in the use of computers, competence in electronic data management and accounting, and the ability to work on multiple tasks.

Salary for both positions: Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. For the Executive Director, the salary range is $35,000-45,000. The salary range for the Administrative Assistant is $20,000-30,000. Benefits are negotiable. AIC is an affirmative action employer. Applications are accepted until the positions are filled. About AIC: AIC was founded in 1997 as a 501 (C) 3 non-profit and tax-exempt educational organization. AIC offices are located in Princeton, New Jersey. It seeks to promote, through free exchange of ideas, sustained dialogue and a comprehensive understanding between the peoples and governments of the United States and Iran, with the goal of promoting cooperation and enhancing relations between the two nations.

To this end, AIC has brought together on its Board of Directors and Advisory Council a distinguished group of Americans, Iranians, and Iranian-American individuals from the academic, business, and policy communities; sponsored a series of high-visibility conferences and public forums; and published and disseminated several ground-breaking publications on US-Iran relations.
