TEHRAN - Mehdi Karrubi (R) speaks to journalists after he was elected temporary
speaker of Iran's new pro-reform parliament, a post he is expecte to keep,
in Tehran May 30. Karrubi, a mid-ranking revolutionary cleric, was chosen
without opposition. The temporary leadership is elected to run parliament
before a final decision is made once the legislature is fully operating
next month.
