TEHRAN, 7 March, 1999: Iranian President Mohammad Khatami (R) inaugurates a new electric train link March 7 1999 between Tehran and the city of Karaj in the western Tehran province. A delegation of top Iranian officials accompanied Khatami in the 30 Kilometer journey from Karaj to the capital. Authorities hope that the express train, part of an uncompleted metro service for the capital which started before the 1979 Islamic revolution, will one day carry 100 million passengers annually.
