  The Iranian Human Rights Working Group (IHRWG) is calling on all concerned
  groups and individuals to participate in a weekly vigil in support of the
  fundamental human rights of the Iranian people. Human Rights violations
  in Iran have intensified following the peaceful demonstration of students
  demanding freedom of press among other things ... The IHRWG calls for the
  weekly vigils to be held in front of the IRI Mission to the UN (622 Third
  Ave. between 40th and 41st streets) from 4:00 to 7:00 PM every Wednesday,
  until the following demands have been met by the Iranian government ...

  This is a final call for papers for 'The Literariness of Persian Texts,'
  a collection of essays in honor of Heshmat Moayyad, scheduled for publication
  in early 2000 by the world literature annnual 'Literature East & West'

  Our very good friend, Amir Ghazanfarian, is in dire need of your help.
  Amir, who graduated from Stanford University last October with a PhD in
  Electrical Engineering, is suffering from an acute case of Lymphoma. He
  needs to receive a bone marrow transplant within the next 30 days. I urge
  you all to please help him by doing a simple blood test. Please note that
  it will take about two weeks for your test results to appear in the Bone
