Keep it simple
Free thoughts on Iran-U.S. normalization

The Iranian
There is no cogent structure to this essay. It is a boundless running
of the consciousness and unconsciousness, rambling on and muddling through
one of the greatest mysteries of our times: When should dialogue culminate
in intercourse and what does the case of Iranians accused of spying for
Israel have to do with Hillary Clinton seeking the senate seat from New
York, or a bunch of American scholars getting pulled out of Tehran last
summer, or Iranian and American governments constantly threatening one
another on how they will not go ahead with a nonexisting relationship!

In the beloved's sea, fear not the waves,
No matter, if your vessel strays,
Toss, it may, side to side, to and fro,
In search of beloved's pearl you must go ... GO

Significance of winter solstice in Persian culture
By Massoume Price
December 8, 1999
The Iranian
Yalda, a Syric word imported into the Persian language by Syric Christians
means birth (tavalod and meelaad are from the same origin). It is a relatively
recent arrival and refereed to the "Shab e Cheleh" festival,
a celebration of Winter solstice on December 21st. Yalda, forty days before
the next major Persian festival "Jashn e Sadeh", has been celebrated
in countless cultures for thousands of years. The ancient Roman festivals
of Saturnalia (God of Agriculture, Saturn) and Sol Invicta (Sun God) are

The Iranian
I've never been so popular in my life. Farzad, my kind, handsome, co-worker
has asked me out several times. The American guy in the cubicle behind
me, Warren, just asked me if I was doing anything this weekend. He's good
looking too.
There's also my sweet cousin Afshin. We've been close friends forever.
I had a crush on him when we were growing up in Mashhad. But it seems years
of being alone in Atlanta have made him nostalgic for the good old days.
He calls me three or four times a week and sends God knows how many emails
every day. ... GO

The Iranian
Persian miniatures have been appreciated for centuries. But the work
of contemporary artists like Aazam Harati have a modern spin. These stylized
artistic interpretations of Persian and Islamic stories are extremely pleasing
to the eye. No wonder Harati's work was a crowd favorite during the recent
Evolving Perceptions art show in Washington DC ... GO

Communist
A Four letter word where I grew up
A schizophrenic secret of our past
Khosro Roozbeh who defended and died for
His people and his passion, was my namesake
I come from
Forgotten obscure Iranian youth shot hung and tortured
Who ended up abroad and underground
Underappreciated, exiled, forgotten Communists ... GO
