    Maryam Heydarzadeh

    The Iranian
    December 20, 1999

A couple of years ago Maryam Heydarzadeh, a blind teenager, recorded "Mesl-e heechkas" (Like no other), a collection of her own poetry, and immediately captured a nation's heart. The poems alone are incredibly tender and sad and lovely. Her childish voice only intensifies the emotional experience. Have lots of Kleenex handy.
