* Iranian Americans as minorities

This is to inform you that on Thursday, July 1st, there will be a hearing before the Small Business Economic Vitality and Consumer Services Committee regarding the ordinance to provide inclusion of Iranian Americans as recognized minorities.

It is required that some 30 people show up in this hearing. Not everyone will need to speak, but we need to present about six cases of discrimination against Iranians, preferably related to work or getting contracts.

This should be very important for all Iranians living in this area, especially business owners. We are trying to show that there is a significant number of Iranian professionals in this area.

The hearing will be at San Francisco City Hall, 2nd floor on July 1st. Please be at room 274 (office of Supervisor Newson) before 9:30 am.

Rediscover Iran

Six-week mini-semester abroad in Iran

It is because of this desire to share these experiences with others that I have begun setting up a non-profit organization called Rediscover Iran whose goal is to create opportunities for Iranian-American youth to have direct contact with the Iranian people and their culture. This summer RI will be offering a six-week Mini-Semester Abroad in Iran where participants will engage in cultural and educational activities in addition to receiving language instruction. Some of the activities include:

- archeological dig
- living with nomads or villagers
- learning to play traditional Iranian musical instruments
- visiting industrial sites
- helping charity organizations
- travel to Isfahan and Shiraz
- etc ... MORE DETAILS
